About the Artist

TheJourney of Happiness from Animation to Fine Art.H
Mom said I could do anything I wanted to, and I wanted to draw and paint!
I cannot remember not having a pencil in my hand and paper in front of me. And when I couldn't find paper, I would draw in the phone book, in the margins, in the ads, but I was banned from drawing on the lists of phone numbers. I grew up on a small farm in Price, Utah, so I was always drawing animals from the stock menagerie that was constantly changing on the farm. Cows, horses, sheep and pigs were the main stay of my models, but also rabbits. pheasants and such. I would draw whenever and wherever I could.
My second grade teacher was very aware of my love for drawing, and she gave me my very first art show. We saved up the drawings that I made in class, (mostly dinosaurs,... I was 7 years old)! Anyway I was hooked forever!! My Aunt Marie also recognized my love for art, she was an oil painter, and would take me to all the drawing and painting classes that she taught around the community. I learned so much from them. It was a great way to move forward and begin to understand how to become a better artist.I continued my passion for drawing, and then I went to see Disneys "Alice in Wonderland", and I was blown away. I realized that I could draw anything and everything my imagination could create (and I could create some pretty crazy stuff)! I continued my pursuit of art and through Junior High and High School I took every art opportunity to draw, paint and create everything I could.
Then it was on to College where I took more classes, and fell in love. Quit school for a while, and got a job painting and drawing houses and buildings for a architectural illustration company. We did most of the work in ink or in tempera colors. it was fun learning super critical perspective, and I really enjoyed doing that for several years. But economies change and when interest hit 18% there wasn't a lot of work. Then I saw an ad it the Salt Lake Tribune looking for layout artists for Saturday morning animation! I jumped at the chance, (and they hired me)!! I was drawing every day and making money, but most of all, I was having fun! I worked on shows like "Punky Brewster", "Thundarr the Barbarian", "Tailspin" and "Teenage Ninja Turtles"! As I did all this I really wanted to start directing and had experience in storyboarding on TMNT and other shows so I sought out some shows and put my name in for director spots!
I was Director/Producer on my first show "Invasion America" at Dreamworks. it was the a wonderful opportunity to work in that position and I enjoyed the work immensely (politics not so much)! But I found my niche, I really liked directing and so I pursued that whenever I could. I directed on other projects too, just to mention a few, "Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.","Puppy Dog Pals", "God, the Devil and Bob", to mention a few and enjoyed that so much!!
And now I have laid down my stylus(it used to be pencil)and I have retired from Animation. I have now made a decision for my third act to paint. I have always loved to paint, and now I feel is the time for me to settle back it Utah and paint parts of this wonderful planet. I painted for an architectural illustration company and and also on some of the animation projects so I am somewhat prepared to venture into this part of my career. Please join me in my final art journey and spend a little time me with the paintings that I will be posting here.
